When I’m around a quorum of bloggers, you can pretty much guarantee that I’ll make an idiot of myself.
I tell myself it’s because I like to use these opportunities to ease the apprehension anyone may have about being around these god-awful blogging types*. When really, it’s because I’m just the clown. Always have been.
This was me yesterday at the first Blog Chicks meet of 2013.
Look at meh and all meh moneeeehhs. YO. Word to your mutha.
It was so great to catch up with so many bloggers yesterday (15 of us in total!) with some new faces mixed in with the old (old only in familiarity, I swears!). Sometimes making it a Thing to be on the computer can feel a bit lonely; seeing people in the flesh is an exercise in humanising it for me again. We share some tips, have some laughs and get to know each other better.
It’s worth noting on the record that the BC last meet was the first time I met one half of my wedding photographers. And when I first met Leigh in real life, it was to go on a breast cancer fundraiser weekend. Both of those meets changed my life. And it’s proof that if you don’t get out of your comfort zone, you’ll never know what amazing connections you’ll make in the process.
* Anyone who actually thinks bloggers are god-awful usually take it back when they meet ’em. Truth.
