I’ve said this a gazillion times before, but hanging out with bloggers is so much fun. Which is lucky cause most of my closest friends are bloggers

But today was fun because it was bloggers with finger sandwiches and macarons – hell yeah! We met at the Gatehouse Tea Rooms in Parramatta (owned by another blogger!) and got our own room which was perfect cause we didn’t have to shout to be heard :)

Today’s class roll:

Some of the stuff we talked about today:

  • Understanding your personality type (the DOPE test and Kelly Exeter’s post about Myers-Briggs)
  • The importance of buying similar domains to your own (including ‘the’ at the front of your domain, .com, .com.au, etc)
  • How easy it is to get an ABN as a sole trader so that you can buy a .com.au domain name. It’s free and easily done online, yo :)
  • That WordPress is the platform of choice if you want to take your blogging to a more professional level and that more and more people are trying out SquareSpace
  • The differences between print media and blogging and just how frigging hard it is to draw a line when it comes to gifted content, etc
  • Taking courses to improve your writing, like at the NSW Writers’ Centre and the Australian Writers’ Centre (both of these were raved about, just quietly)
  • Where we each draw the line about what we blog about, especially if we blog about kiddies.

There was much chatting and scribbling of notes amongst the eating and drinking of tea in fancy teacups. The talking even spilled out into the carpark afterwards :)

Thanks heaps for a fun afternoon ladies!
