Tonight I held our ethernet cable lovingly as it was downloading new music for me on iTunes.
Our phone line was finally repaired this morning, after close to SEVEN DAYS with no hard-wired telephony nor broadband interwebs.
In this day and age, really!
Kudos to the idiot telecommunications maintenance staffer who cut our line while performing “maintenance” last Tuesday afternoon at about 1.20pm. I toast your effectiveness in executing your role description.
To be honest, I didn’t really miss it THAT much, it was more “what IF someone’s trying to ring me about mum” or “I think I need to order business cards before the blogger conference in March” or “House-hunting is really hard to do on a smartphone”.
I missed not having an excuse to not do housework.
But considering we could have been offline for another week or so, I’m just SO LUCKY that we got back online when we did.
AND we are lucky that we signed a new lease on our penthouse last week. Because this week our real estate agent is trying to convince us to move out and cancel the lease. It’s a really long story, but the short version is that after 2 ½ years without a lease, we were amazingly lucky that we signed one when we did.
Have I told you I love our penthouse? It’s not really a penthouse, but we love it even though it’s run down and the kitchen sink is 2 inches lower than is comfortable for washing up. I’ve spent tonight wanting to hug our cracked and crumbling walls. We’ll only move if we get really really good financial compensation.
We’re going to buy a lottery ticket.
(Sorry about the typos in my mobile posts in the last week. I could edit them, but I’m going to keep them that way to remind me that even on mobile phones, I need to proof-read what I’m posting online :)
