The view under my desk has me glowing with happiness:

For two years, 10 months and one day (not that I’m counting), our lounge room was effectively powered through a single power point. As in, one SINGLE wall socket. In a geek household.

The extension leads! Oh, the extension leads. And the need to unplug one charger so we could use another. And I couldn’t vacuum in the lounge room without first powering down the computers.

Yesterday, this stunnning four-thingo power point board doo-dah was installed under my desk. And my life is better already. I have FOUR sources of electricity — all to myself!

So my shredder could be plugged in ALL THE TIME if I wanted it to be. I don’t, but you know what I mean.

To celebrate, I’m using this Belkin Conserve Surge Protector. With wireless remote:

So when I’m shutting down my PC for the night, I can flick this baby* and it’ll cut the power to whatever’s plugged into it. Hooray for environmental awareness! Hooray for not having to get on my knees for the privilege!

Today my mission is to tidy up the remaining cords hanging around my feet. Sure, they’re SO much better than they used to be, but they still need to look, well, less messy *twitch*

* Best to not accidentally flick the switch of the remote when you’re taking a photo of it. No-sir-ee.
