Alternative title: I can’t believe I didn’t already know this.

It’s no secret I’m an Obama fan girl, especially Mr President himself. I watch West Wing Week on YouTube. I follow him on Twitter and Instagram. I read the entirety of his AMA on Reddit. Damn, I’ve even photoshopped myself into photos of him with adoring fans.

And then, this morning, I discovered something amazing:

I forgive you for thinking I chose 3rd October just so I could have something in common with Mr and Mrs Obama. You thought it, didn’t you? But no, this wasn’t the act of a crazed fangirl. I’m just awesome to have chosen such an awesome date.

How cool is that, though? Sharing our wedding anniversary with MICHELLE AND BARACK OBAMA. The Obamas!

Them:

and, 18 years later, us:

Wedding

Here’s hoping we get better with age, just like The President and First Lady.

So yesterday marked two years of wedded bliss. Which is largely the same as de-factoed bliss, except with me giggling every time I refer to Dan as “my husband”. Yes, it’s still weird. Grown up. Come to think of it, there is at least one big difference with being married, and that’s the frequency with which we’re asked when we’re planning on having kids. Some days I’m tempted to send out a press release on behalf of my uterus. Or set up a twitter account and send out regular status updates.

To celebrate our anniversary we were gifted a night at the stunning 4½ star Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel on our last night in Hobart by Jarod and Liz. The spa in our room was right next to the bed and we could have leaped straight from the bed into the tub. As if to prove how boring we are, we did two loads of washing in the machine provided in the bathroom. Now, that is how you celebrate your wedding anniversary.

Yesterday I scored awesome pressies, including this stunning necklace (which is from a gallery in Hobart):

I think we should go to Hobart every October…

  1. Absolutely you should come to Hobart every year to celebrate your Anniversary! Maybe we could organise a Blogging event in Hobart for the same weekend, just to maximise your time here. Loving that necklace!

  6. If I could live in Tassie four months out of every year, I could possibly have the perfect climate combination all year round.

Glad you had an awesome Hobartiversary!
