Things at home are a bit stressful at the moment, we desperately needed a nice, relaxing weekend.

I started things off by cooking Dan scrambled eggs for breakfast. In bed. I never cook breakfast.

We left the bowl for the boys to ‘accidentally’ find the scraps. Turns out they don’t mind scrambled eggs:

Breakfast in bed

We treated ourselves to a peaceful picnic lunch in our local park. Something we’ve been meaning to do, oh, since we moved in two months ago? And in the months before *that*, we kept saying “we can go to the new park for lunch every weekend!”.

Yeah, that didn’t happen.

Picnic

This was my view from the blanket. Hurrah for some sunshine and natural vitamin D intake! While lying in the sunshine, we ate homemade poached chicken sammiches, cheese and crackers and the all-important Soda Stream with bitter lemon cordial.

Let the sunshine in

On Sunday we finally bought ourselves some outdoor furniture. I don’t want to think back to how much it cost, but it’s teak, so you’ll ge the gist of it. We promptly set the table and two chairs on our balcony for Elvis and Bear to test. And test it they did. They sat on it, under it, they sniffed it and ended up napping on it. I think it passed the test. Here’s hoping that Dan and I can sit on our new chairs, read the paper (on our iPads) and yell “get off the grass!” to the neighbourhood kids.

New outdoor setting: evaluation phase

I even sneaked out for a catch up with my friend Becci (hi Becci!) and enjoyed my first iced chocolate in… way too long. We went to the cafe at Neild Park near Rodd Point… I can also vouch for their caramel milkshakes and lemon tarts (I felt it was my duty to test several items on the menu).

It was just the weekend we needed. And now the Monday-itis has kicked in and the memories of the weekend are already fading away…

How was your weekend? Did you get to put your feet up, or was it all go-go-go?

  1. Hiya Rah! Must say the iced choc was almost as good as the chat. It was a nice break from the domestic life of Sunday and a chance to finally catch up too. Let’s do it again soon!

  3. Nope, didn’t get up to anything interesting, pretty much stuck at home for a while. I lazed about, napped, and played with my dog, which all in all, wasn’t too bad.

  5. Your picnic looks amazing! And so does your outdoor setting. Ours is teak as well, and it still looks brand new after a year of sitting out in the direct sun. You did the right thing!

Sorry to hear things are stressful at the moment. I hope things get better xxx
