Can’t believe it’s been a year since the lorikeets were regulars in the backyard of our penthouse.

They’re back with a vengence, seed-nomming and all… though with more bird poo on my washing than I remember from last year.

It’s only been this week that the lorikeets have been on branches low enough for me to try taking photos. I was thrown when I saw them, so only shot these on my 50mm lens.

Cropping in  Photoshop  is a wonderful thing :)

I love the contrast of the tree and native Australian birdlife… and the brick wall of our neighbour’s property…

Half a second later and this would have been an awesome in-flight shot. Must remember to use continuous shooting mode…

Sure, I hate the mess they leave behind, but I’m enjoying this while we’re still living in the penthouse since there’s a big chance we’ll be moving out before next summer.
